MSc Environmental Policy & Regulation

I am the Programme Director of the MSc Environmental Policy and Regulation (EPR). This degree examines how approaches to environmental policy and regulation operate across international, national, and local contexts. It attracts a diverse cohort of students from around the world, representing a wide range of disciplinary backgrounds and professional experiences. Graduates from the MSc EPR have gone on to pursue careers in both the public and private sectors. The LSE is a hub for research, expertise and outreach on environmental, climate and sustainability governance, hosting both the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment (GRI) and the Global School of Sustainability (GSoS).

Examines the nature, dynamics, and practice of environmental regulation. Topics covered include policy rationales, interest group influence, instrument design, and implementation.

Examines how business governs its relationship with sustainability. Topics covered include strategic corporate sustainability, sustainable investment, greenwashing, and the role of the state.

An independent research project broadly related to environmental policy and regulation, environment and

Critically examines the governance of sustainability by financial actors and corporate actors (in the real economy). Topics covered include strategic corporate sustainability, sustainable investment, green bonds, ESG ratings, and greenwashing.

This course Introduces geographical and environmental research methods, covering the complete research process from topic selection through data analysis, featuring both quantitative and qualitative approaches.​

Chronos Prize

​

I am proud to be the academic lead for the Chronos Prize. This is a partnership between Chronos Sustainability and LSE, recognizes exceptional student work in sustainability. Eligible students from undergraduate course GY326 (Sustainable Business and Finance) and postgraduate courses GY465 (Concepts in Environmental Regulation) prepare briefs on key sustainability issues, including analysis and policy recommendations for regulators, investors, and companies. Launched in 2022-23, the prize honours students whose work shows the greatest potential for positive social or environmental impact. Winners are selected by practitioner experts from finance, industry, NGO, public policy, and regulatory backgrounds, ensuring real-world relevance and applicability of student recommendations.
